Batman: The Animated Series

One of the blogs I follow noted that today was the twentieth anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series.

This and Gargoyles were my favorite cartoons growing up. This is a twenty year old cartoon made to draw in even more people for the Tim Burton Batman movies, but it still holds up today. It goes full throttle the whole time without losing so much of what makes Batman so iconic. My favorite representation of Batman is the Arkham series. I love the Nolan  series but this series perfectly captures everything about this universe. And it’s, at least in part, based on the TV show.

This show just holds a special place for me. I’ve been recording it on Huboom to have something to watch with my son. It holds that perfect balance of being just mature enough to hold my attention but not too much that it would scare him.

The opening says it all. Try and watch this without getting goosebumps.
